ROCKLANDS ANNUAL HOT SAUCE CONTEST & PIG ROAST
Turning up the heat for a great cause.
Every October, we gather at Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company in Arlington, VA for one of the hottest (and tastiest) nights in D.C. — the Annual Hot Sauce Contest & Pig Roast.
What started as a small neighborhood gathering has grown into a fiery community tradition — a bold, smoky, family-friendly evening filled with great food, cold drinks, and plenty of competition. From all-you-can-eat pulled pork and hearty sides to the main event — the Hot Sauce Contest, where local sauce-makers battle it out for trophies and bragging rights — it’s a feast for the senses and a fundraiser for a cause that matters.
All proceeds benefit the D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation, helping support burn survivors, their families, and the professionals who care for them.
Whether you’re tasting, competing, or just there for the BBQ, this night brings together food lovers, firefighters, and families for an unforgettable mix of flavor and fun.
Fun for the whole family:
Meet members of Arlington Fire Department, explore a fire truck up close, and let the kids join in the excitement while you enjoy the evening.
Interested in competing?
Think your homemade sauce can handle the heat?
Entry is limited to 25 contestants — drop off 20 oz of labeled sauce by 4:30 PM on event day. Contestants must be present to win.
