who we serve
Whether it’s providing care directly, helping others do it better, or partnering with our community to make it happen—we support survivors, families, firefighters, and healthcare teams across the D.C. region.
Burn Survivors & the People Who Love Them
From the first moments after injury to life well beyond the hospital, we’re in your corner.
Recovery isn’t just physical—it’s identity, confidence, and connection. We help survivors—adults, children, and injured firefighters—and their families access what they need at every stage: emergency assistance in the early days, aftercare and peer support to handle the hard in-between, and experiences that restore joy and confidence.
We host our annual Burn Survivor Retreat in Crested Butte, Colorado—a transformative week of outdoor adventure, peer connection, and emotional renewal. We also support pediatric survivors through Children’s Burn Camp and help families attend national gatherings like the Phoenix World Burn Congress, where survivors and caregivers find strength and understanding together.
And because recovery extends far beyond the hospital, we fund programs that make everyday life easier—reentry to school or work, family travel for care, and ongoing emotional support. However someone was burned—and whenever it happened—we meet them where they are and walk with them forward.

Supporting Firefighters and Their Families - before, during, & after injury
From prevention and peer support to long-term recovery and purpose — we stand with fireighters and their families every step of the way.
When a firefighter is seriously injured, the recovery affects their body, their family, and their future. We’re there from day one—our Family Services Team works hand-in-hand with the Washington Hospital Center Burn Center to provide on-site coordination, communication, and comfort for families. As healing continues, we connect injured firefighters and loved ones with trained peers who have walked this path and fund restorative experiences like Firefighter Burn Survivors Week and Phoenix World Burn Congress.
Because fewer injuries is the goal, we also invest in firefighter-led burn-injury awareness and prevention training to protect those on the front lines. And for active or retired firefighters ready to give back, we provide meaningful ways to stay involved—mentoring, volunteering, and continuing the mission that defines who they are.

Burn Care Providers & the Teams Who Heal
Stronger care teams mean stronger outcomes for survivors.
We fund and champion the professionals who make world-class burn care possible—nurses, therapists, social workers, child-life specialists, and physicians. Our support includes providing equipment and technology for rehab and pediatric care, funding professional education and conference opportunities, and investing in research that advances burn treatment and recovery. We also collaborate with burn units to close critical gaps in care.
Our role is simple: back the teams who show up for survivors every day so survivors receive the best care—clinically and compassionately.
