CHILDRENS BURN CAMP
Each summer, the Foundation sends young burn survivors from D.C. to Children’s Burn Camp for a week of confidence-building, friendship, and fun — all at no cost to families.
Set in a peaceful outdoor setting surrounded by nature, the camp gives young burn survivors (ages 8–18) a safe and supportive space to rediscover joy, build confidence, and realize how much they’re capable of. It’s a week filled with laughter, challenges, and moments that stay with them long after they head home.
Campers spend their days swimming, boating, climbing ropes courses, playing firefighter games, trying archery, and creating art — all while surrounded by people who truly understand what they’ve been through. Supported by volunteer firefighters, burn-care professionals, and dedicated counselors, kids gain new courage with every challenge they conquer and friendships that continue long after camp ends.
The Foundation covers every expense — from lodging and meals to transportation and supplies — so families never have to worry about cost. Our volunteers help make camp even more special by sponsoring activities, bringing supplies, and joining in the fun right alongside the campers. For many of us, it’s one of the most rewarding weeks of the year — a reminder that healing can happen anywhere, especially when surrounded by people who care.
“I didn’t have to hide my scars here. Everyone just got it.”
“I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up to volunteer at this camp. It is hard to put into words what I get out of it. I learn so much from the kids at this camp. They are heroes. Watching them grow and conquer daily challenges that I will never understand is amazing.”
